|Sample Cookie Dough Fundraiser|
Why do schools choose cookie dough fundraisers?
Three things immediately come to mind:
1) They are a commodity: food.
2) They are a tempting treat.
3) Everyone gets it.
So, how in the world does this make any sense at all?
In order to succeed at school fundraising, you have to have donors. But because asking people for money directly isn't enough enticement, cookie dough fits the bill.
It's a commodity, meaning that it is a food product which is always in demand. Yep, insert cheesy catch phrase here: After all, everybody eats! So, when it's a tempting treat, that's even better.
Lastly, everyone gets it. Kids understand how to sell it, parents understand the value they receive by buying it and the school knows that other than needing just a bit of help on delivery day, it's a well-developed school fundraiser with a proven track record.
Cookie dough fundraising is not for everyone. If you are a small group or have a hard time selling anything to parents and the community you may want to look elsewhere. Shipping frozen product is expensive so there are usually minimum sales numbers you need in order to get free shipping. Your profitability depends on your ability to sell above this minimum number.
In summary, a larger group with just decent sales ability can have higher sales over other fundraisers when switching to a frozen cookie dough fundraiser.
