Too Many School Fundraisers... Make More by Offering Less!

Does your school offer too many school fundraisers?

My kids school sent 4 fundraising offers home in the same day.

2 Scholastic book flyers, a yearbook offer and school photos.

Because I run a school fundraising company, I submitted them all back with checks but...

I can tell you that I did not want to!

I hold myself to a bit of a higher standard because I own a fundraising company so yes, I support my competition in a way but it just seems right. But here's the thing. My child's school is convinced that they don't do product fundraisers. Obviously, all 4 of these offers are products but I digress.

They came home all in the same day which is a bit much - even for me.

4 requests is just over the top and there is no way parents could have kept their cool. Most parents would have thrown 3 out of these 4 away and they would have whispered under their breath something like 'holy s&@#! 4 fundraisers?'

Don't try to argue with me. Don't say 'but...' or anything else. It's offensive to send 4 fundraisers home at once and it's going to make people not want to support your school.

See, I write about this stuff all the time and so I am pretty in tune and am also pretty patient. I tell folks to limit the number of times they reach out for parental support and to make every fundraiser count to the fullest!

So, just don't do it! If you have any say in the fundraising at your school, just don't let this happen. Parents will support you less because of it. As cool, calm and collected as I am, if I see another fundraiser this week, even I will blow my lid!

5 helpful hints to making more while offering less:

1) Reduce the number of fundraisers you offer.
2) Do not actively market fundraisers that raise under $2,000.
3) Market your highest average fundraisers with everything you have!
4) Switch up your fundraiser types, 2 book flyers in a day means one goes away.
5) Schedule fundraisers so they do not compete with other efforts.
