Innovative Schools, EdReform and EdTech
Hi.
I want to share a very quick sentiment. Not a scientific one, nor a particularly studious one either.
I think schools are at a crossroads.
Presented with no way to continue as is, I believe schools have to choose innovation and technology, collaborative learning and new methods or choose to do nothing and risk becoming irrelevant.
So, without sounding preachy or over-dramatic I would encourage anyone who reads this to take a look at a few of the resources available to you that embrace change and improvement:
Twitter - search for hash tags:
#edtech
#edreform
#education
Things will change, it's inevitable. Professionally, Believe Kids is very interested in how we can help fund this technical revolution. Personally, I just learn more everyday and where most people see shrinking budgets and negativity, I see possibility.
I think you will see possibility as well if you just take a look at what your peers are doing.
Ok, until next time.

Friday Inspiration - Google For Educators
Happy Friday! For the weekend, I leave you this...
Google for Educators
This is a post from the Educational Technology Guy blog. The thing is, this information will help you regardless of what line of work you are in. Even fundraising representatives, PTA and PTO parents and principals will get something out of it. The reason this is so productive for educators and non-educators alike is that many of the google resources available are time-saving, productivity or convenience based software.

To make a long story short, the tools here are cloud-based meaning that you can work on google apps from anywhere and sharing becomes easier. For instance, Google Docs includes a word processing program but what makes it remarkable is being able to access it from anywhere and the fact that you can share it with others for collaborative writing.
So, that's enough of a setup. Go ahead and take a bit of time to explore the world of Google.
Thanks!

Are we ready for e-books?
Are we ready for e-books?
Take a few minutes to review this video by Theodore Gray who discusses the future of both printed text books and electronic text books as it relates to content creation.
He takes on the question can there be a company model for creating electronic textbooks?
I agree with his deduction that the answer is yes. It's just a very different business in the future. There is clearly no future for the textbook industry that exists today and I think you'll find his information helpful and interesting:

New Video - Change Education
Here's the next video in our campaign to "Say No to Less in Schools."
It's about supporting learning in the classroom by volunteering time inside the classroom and supporting school fundraisers.
Leave me a comment and let me know what you think :)
