4 Cheerleading Fundraising Tips

Cheerleading groups are very successful when it comes to fundraising. It would seem that the teams are motivated to succeed and thrive on challenges.

Competition as a team is very important to cheerleaders so in order to have a successful fundraiser, you should set a team goal whenever possible.

Set an attainable goal!

Ask your fundraising company to work with you on setting a goal. You want to have a goal that is challenging and yet attainable so that you can create a sense of success. There is nothing worse than setting an unrealistic goal and falling short.

Perhaps the best way to arrive at a team goal is to discuss how many participants you would expect and estimate what they will each be able to sell. That should help you arrive at the overall sales goal of the fundraiser.

Make every sale count!

There are cheerleading fundraising programs that can raise a significant amount of money. Choosing the program with the best sales averages for your group will raise more with less effort. By way of example, selling a dollar item per sale brings in a dollar per sale, a $10 sale will bring in $10 but there is a sale in each case. Sell something with higher profit margins and a higher average sale dollar amount. Unless you plan on making a ton of sales, make every sale count by offering an item with a higher sales price!

Make it a priority!

Cheerleading groups are already pretty darn good at this. Choosing a block of time to host the fundraiser where kids can really focus on the fundraiser is your best option. If there is travel or big events, competing fundraisers or important activities at school you may have trouble truly making the cheerleading fundraiser a priority. Just like you make your competitions a big deal, make your fundraiser feel the same way.

Don't overdo it!

As much as possible keep your fundraising to a minimum. If you have a grand purpose to your fundraiser and you promote it like crazy, you will build excitement around it and raise more than you would with multiple fundraising efforts. There is nothing worse than doing more just to get less and offering more fundraisers is usually met with resistance from parents and the community.

Planning a cheerleading fundraising campaign can seem daunting but remember a few things.

Cheerleading groups have a history of profitable fundraising so you can do it. You have the benefit of teamwork and comradery on your side. Make it big but keep it simple - don't overdo it.

Offer good products at good prices and you will succeed in your efforts!
