Cookie Dough Recall Affects Schools and Fundraising Companies

Here is the latest from the FDA outlining literally hundreds of products including recalled Peanut Butter. At least 502 people in more than 43 states and Canada have gotten sick since the outbreak began in the fall. Eight have died. (personal note - I didn't realize how big of a deal this was - it's nationwide, very serious and widespread. The factory is actually not even in operation as of now because of this.)

The items made their way into the hands of some frozen cookie dough fundraising companies. Believe Kids and our manufacturers were not included in the recall. This segment reprinted from here and their coverage of this has been great so I recommend you check them out.

   Country Maid Inc. is expanding its previous recall of 2-pound packages of Classic Breaks peanut butter cookie dough to include more lot numbers, because of the expanded recall by PCA.

   The dough was distributed through fundraising groups in the following states: Arkansas, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Rhode Island, Tennessee, Texas, Vermont, Washington, Wisconsin and Wyoming. It was available between Aug. 20, 2007 and Jan. 9, 2009.
