Top 5 Free Photo Sharing Websites

There are only a few photo sharing websites right now that seem to be a good value and offer comprehensive service. I believe the order of coolness of the sites is probably listed in order here:

1) webshots.com -they allow 1000 photos for free plus 100 videos I think. This site is well organized and easy to use. There is a lot of photos here but it seems like good photos don't get commented on as much and so I don't think the random sharing is as fun as flickr. This site is just awesome though if you want tons of pics uploaded without expense. - Free then cheap if you want unlimited (I think I saw like $2.95 per month or something).

2) flickr.com - the best online community and perhaps the best layout and simplicity of use. The most fun too because people will comment on your photos. Bulk uploader is awesome as is right clicking and sending to flickr. This is clearly the victor but is number two only because of the photo limit for free accounts which I think is 300. Then it's off to the subscription service. If you are serious, pay the yearly fee because this site is number one if you don't mind paying. Free but when you get hooked you will want to pay!

3) shwup.com - a bit of a variation on photo sharing - you upload photos and share them to a list of email addresses you type in. The photos get resized all cool into pages and I believe that people will really enjoy looking at the muvee's or just the pages with the cool layouts. What's really cool is that you can have family or friends contribute to the album as well! Free!

4) photobucket.com - I found this site to be a bit confusing and it doesn't seem quite as cool as flickr in terms of people seeing your photos and leaving comments and such. The thing about photobucket is that if you just need to host a few images, it so easily gives you the code so that it can be linked or put into html pages. It's free too and that rules.

5) Picasa - this application from google will search your computer for images and post them in a thumbnail gallery type deal. I just downloaded it and it seemed very nice. Will index movie files as well and let them play in the application (seemed to lack a timeline for skipping into the middle of files). Does have a photo sharing option somehow which I will have to explore shortly. Free!

What I have found is that there are other sites that really just want to provide you the prints of your images. I have two photo printers and do not want that functionality (or to be reminded to purchase every few minutes) so I have excluded those. The other thing is that there are a number of slideshow providers as well that I have excluded.
